My first experience with mochi was in an Asian dessert shop.

I had never tasted anything quite like it, soft, chewy with deep flavour, a delicate sweetness that’s completely different to Western sweets.

Mochi is made from glutinous rice and has been enjoyed across Asia for generations. Once I realised how unique it was, I knew it would be something special for South Africans to discover too.

So I brought it home.
